Insurance UpdateS

The CA Dept. of Insurance announced a mandatory one-year moratorium on non-renewals and cancellations for homeowners impacted by the Southern California wildfires.

In light of what’s going on with our neighbors to the South, why not take a moment to learn what resources are available throughout SLO County to prepare, respond, and recover in case of local emergencies.

A one-stop resource for San Luis Obispo County residents and visitors focused on emergency preparedness and response.

  • Know Your (Evacuation) Zone: To save time during an emergency, it is important for residents to know your evacuation zone in advance. Enter your address to get your zone name. Post it in a easily accessible area in case of an emergency.

  • Know Your Hazards: Enter your address into the MyHazards tool to discover hazards in the area (earthquake, flood, fire, and tsunami) and learn steps to reduce personal risk.

  • Alert & Notification Systems: Learn how to register and/or enable your smart device(s) to receive alerts if there is an emergency and any actions you need to take in your designated area. Includes Reverse 911 and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).

  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) - This program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
